Chief Red Cloud (Makhpiya-luta, in Lakota tongue), was of the Oglala siouan tribe. He was homely the greatest western American Indian leader. He was a renowned also respected battler and statesman. He led the most a hit of the Indian Wars towards the United States. He negotiated personally with conductor Grant in Washington and achieved liberal concessions being his people. He was unusually foresighted. He realized the ultimate out come of the westward expansion in America, and reconciled his outlook to achieve the best results he could for his people.
Red Cloud was born near what is now North Platte, Nebraska in 1822. He died on the Pine Ridge area notoriety south Dakota in 1909. His life spanned the win transformation of the American West, from a land of mountain men besides naive natives to a land of bustling towns and electric lighting. During that time he managed to retain his righteousness and the respect of both friends and enemies.
